Galveston: The Strand Part I


7/22/23 Day 3 in Galveston, Texas we spent the day walking the downtown area known as The Strand. We also took a drive through some other areas. I really enjoyed the chance to get close to pelicans and boats. Sadly, nobody wanted to get out of the car so I could actually get good photos. Got a few good pictures of some Hermit Crabs for sale as well. I used the Canon 6D Mark II with the 50mm Lens and the 75-300mm Lens.

The Beach Houses were all such bright and vivid colors. Really enjoyed that. Except for the orange/blue Whataburger looking houses. GROSS!


The Bishop's Palace

Didn't get a good glimpse but across from The Bishop's Palace was Sacred Heart Church

This guy just fishing in the bay from his kayak.

Just some equipment floating about.




These are some of the closest images I have to the pelicans. They were swooping through this area. Sadly we didn't pay the $6 to get out of the car and explore the area.



There's also a Battleship and Submarine you can tour in this area, sadly, we just did a 2 minute drive through. Apologies for the window tint.

It's not yellow, but it'll do.

Night at the Pond with Presley 8/29/19 Presley the Beagle and I went for a walk around the pond and I worked on a bit of night time photography. Still a lot to learn about it without using a flash but we did enjoy a cool breeze. I'll probably try my Lume Cube next time for lighting purposes since my 6D Mark II doesn't have a flash and the external flash I purchased with it (which was supposed to work) is incompatible. The camera has worked really well in low light situations, like dance floor lighting and such, I've been really impressed.I used the 50mm lens tonight and I've been trying to rely on it most of the time.   Lake Mackenzie & Downtown at Night Part II 7/11/23 I took a look around for some unique spots to take photos at and see what the possibilities would be for Night Photography. Using the 24mm EF-S Lens on the Canon Rebel T5, Ashley got some interesting photos of the night sky, reflections in the water, and dim angel lighting in a downtown outdoor café. Enjoy! It's me!
