500mm Shoot at the Pond

500mm Shoot at the Pond

Normal day at the pond with my 500mm Lens and my monopod for some extreme long range close up shots. I also used my iPhone Camera when the ducks got close to me. Spent some time also taking out of focus shots at night which was fun.

I've been using the FILCA app which allows me to simulate different types of film which are sort of like filters, plus it allows me to control my iPhone camera with the settings I would normally have on my DSLR. Really digging the app, plus the time stamps you'd have on old photos looks really cool.

When I first got my Camera, my Rebel T5, I was obsessed with Manual Focus and pulling focus on my own. I would mess with getting subjects or the background in/out of focus. It was really fun and I've mostly let my camera do the Auto Focus for me since then. It was fun to step into that old mindset.

The 500mm lens is fully manual, no fancy technology here, so learning how to use it effectively has been a challenge, this day showed great progress, and I've come out with some excellent photos.

Hope you enjoy,

Aaron

During the shoot, I used my iPhone 6S Plus to get some close up shots as the ducks gathered around me.
Coasters tend to hold Lenses quite well.

Then I returned with my iPhone 6s Plus on the 16th at night to get some really nice low light and out of focus shots.

These last 3 photos I used my Canon Rebel T5 and 24 mm Lens for, it really lets a lot of light in and I think will be my main camera for nightly walks.
